Hello there! I’m WilhelminaM, an emerging artist who paints still life using gouache on paper and wooden panels. To art - to make - has been and is an important part of my personal life and my inner narrative.

More commonly known as as Marietta Sansom-Gower, a secondary school teacher, I use WilhelminaM as my art name. I’ll post a blog some time to explain how this came about.

I was born in the Netherlands but raised from a young age in nipaluna/Hoabrt where I studied English Literature and later teaching before moving to Naarm/Melbourne ten years ago. I still happily work as a teacher but would love to dedicate more than my spare time to my art.

Being young in my art journey I enjoy experimenting with landscapes, portraits, designs, ceramics, even ... recently...abstracts... gah! But I am most passionate about still life.

Still life resonances with me on many levels: the simplicity, the connection to time and memory, the fragility of life.​
